ENTREPRENEUR AND PRO-ATHLETE PARTNER IN FASHION
CHICAGO, IL - Succezz is “A Way of Life Environment” bringing an exclusive selection of sneakers and designer apparel from around the world to Chicago’s South Loop. There is something for everyone and “Sneaker Heads” will be in sneaker heaven when stepping into Succezz.
Chicago native and NBA Milwaukee Bucks Forward Bobby Simmons teamed up with fashion connoisseur Lavelle “V-Dot” Sykes to launch SuccezZ. Sykes has more than fifteen-years in the footwear and urban apparel industry. “Sneaker design and construction have grown to a new level - kids search all over the country for a one of a kind pair of sneakers,” says Sykes.
The sneaker culture has become a pop culture phenomenon for all ages and ethnicities around the world. According to the National Sporting Goods Association, retail sales of athletic footwear reached $17.4 billion last year with sneakers increasing the most by 11% to $2.7 billion and fashion sneakers increasing 8% to $958 million.
“In the midst of violence that has continuously perpetuated throughout the Chicago area, we wanted to provide a place for the youth and subconsciously inspire them to achieve and stay driven,” said co-owner, Bobby Simmons.
That said, Sykes and Simmons plan to increase positive awareness amongst the youth throughout the community by implementing various mentoring/internship programs geared towards students delving into the fashion merchandise management industry; annual charity basketball tournaments; and back-to-school giveaways to provide students with educational resources and activities.
SuccezZ will host a VIP Celebration on Friday, June 20, 2008 from 6:00-10:00 p.m. Guests will be given an exclusive first look at the store and opportunity to purchase merchandise. DJ’s will spin live music while guests enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Photo opportunities include invited guests sports and entertainment industry VIP’s and celebrities.
The Official Grand Opening for the public is Saturday, June 21, 2008 from 2-6 p.m.

ABOUT BOBBY SIMMONS: Bobby Simmons attended DePaul and was the only player in history to record 1,000 points, 700 rebounds, 200 assists and 100 three-point field goals. He was named All-State, All-City and All-Area by the Chicago Sun-Times as a junior and senior at Simeon High School.
ABOUT Lavelle “V-Dot” Sykes: In August 2005, Lavelle is one of the founding members of Self Conscious by VDot: A Lifestyle Boutique and in August 2007, opened a second boutique named Encore by VDot. He managed the buying, marketing, design, day-to-day run of the business, and was a partner of both sneaker boutiques.
